I’m Charli Hodgson and I’ve been part of the driver industry for 8 years. I’m a Grade A ADI Instructor / Trainer, as well as a Director at Drive-Up Training, a MiDAS Driver Assessor and an ADINJC comittee member.

My journey started as an ADI out and about on the roads delivering lessons to learners.
When COVID-19 hit I went into an office based role heading up the Training Network and managing a team for a National Driving School.
In 2025 I needed a new challenge, so I left the office and got back into my mobile office delivering learner lessons, training PDIs / ADIs and delivering minibus assessments and training.
I have completed advanced driving qualifications and enhanced my knowledge and skills in coaching.

I share the same morals, ethics and ethos as my fellow colleagues whereby, we want to make a difference within our industry. Honestly and with transparency. Ensuring road safety is at the heart of everything we do and delivering quality training and education to learners and PDIs / ADIs.

Based in York and the surrounding areas and I could not be prouder to be part of this company.

As a DVSA Grade A Driving Instructor and Instructor Trainer with extensive experience across the Driver Training industry, I bring a unique perspective shaped by years of working independently, in partnership, and alongside national driving schools. This diverse background enables me to deliver exceptional, personalised training that transforms learners into safe, confident drivers. My commitment to inclusive education extends beyond traditional instruction—I offer lessons in British Sign Language, ensuring that quality driver training is accessible to all. Whether working with new learners or mentoring aspiring Instructors, I focus on building not just driving skills, but lasting confidence and professional expertise. As co-founder of Drive-Up Training, I’m part of a dedicated team that champions professionalism, continuous support, and career development within our industry. Beyond road-based instruction, I provide comprehensive business management guidance to fellow Instructors, helping them navigate the complexities of establishing and maintaining successful driver training enterprises. Based in West London, I’m driven by a passion for elevating industry standards and supporting every individual—whether learner or Instructor—throughout their journey toward success and independence on the road.

Kim Gibson

  • Position: Co-Founder
  • Qualification: Approved Driving Instructor

Hi, I’m Kim Gibson — Co-Founder of Drive-Up Training and Chair of my local association. I bring a blend of educational expertise and a real passion for Driving Instruction to everything I do.

My journey into driver training started after many years in Primary Education, where I developed strong skills in supporting individuals with additional needs and language barriers. That experience shaped the way I teach today: creating inclusive, supportive learning environments for both Potential Driving Instructors (PDIs) and learner drivers.

I’m committed to delivering more than just lessons. For me, it’s about raising the standard of customer service and training across the industry, because I believe better teaching means safer roads and more confident drivers. At Drive-Up Training, I work alongside like-minded professionals who share the same vision for excellence.

Beyond the car and the classroom, I also enjoy helping fellow Driving Instructors with the business side of their work — giving them the tools and guidance to build sustainable, successful careers.

I’m based in West London, but my work often takes me across the region (and beyond). I love delivering specialist training programs and constantly developing my own skills so I can stay at the forefront of the industry.

Tom Stenson

  • Position: Co-Founder
  • Qualification: Grade A ADI Ordit

I’m Tom Stenson, and I’ve been part of the Driver Training Industry for nearly 13 years. I’m a Grade A ADI and an ORDIT-registered Instructor trainer, as well as Deputy Chair and Head of Training for the ADINJC and Managing Director at Bright Coaching.

With advanced driving qualifications and a strong background in coaching, I deliver training that supports learners at every stage – from novice drivers through to Driving Instructor development.

One of my core ambitions is to shift how the public and fellow professionals view the Driver Training Industry. I believe Driving Instructors should be recognised as true road safety professionals, working together towards the shared vision of zero road deaths on UK roads.

As co-founder of Drive-Up Training, I’m proud to be part of a team dedicated to offering high-quality, up-to-date training with a focus on transparency, integrity, and long-term support.

Based in Malvern, Worcestershire, I deliver training locally across Worcestershire, Gloucestershire, and Herefordshire, while also travelling nationwide to support Instructors with their training and professional development.
